Breeders Theater takes flight once more with ‘Out of the Nest’
BURIEN – Breeders Theater returns to E.B. Foote Winery with its 12th production, Out of the Nest.
Out of the Nest is a new comedy with music. Book and lyrics are by T.M. Sell, with music by Nancy Warren and choreography by Patricia M. Britton. Doug Knoop directs, with costumes by Melissa Sell.
The cast features Eric Hartley, Melissa Ann Fleming, Michael Xenakis, Steve Scheide, Scott Green, Jonathan Lee, J Howard Boyd, Anjelica Wolf, Teresa Widner, Wendy Cohen, Mike Bacalzo and Martin J. Mackenzie.
Out of the Nest is a fantasy about love and sacrifice, says playwright T.M. Sell. Trying to find the right consort for their daughter, the princess (played by Fleming), the king (Mackenzie) and queen (Widmner) set up a contest: any bird who can bring back the bell off the cat can marry the princess.
Enter Robin (Scheide) and his chum Budgie (Wolf), who set off in search of the cat (Lee) and his bell. Meanwhile, a couple of not-so-nice fellows, BT regulars Hartley and Boyd, scheme to get the bell for themselves.
Show dates are July 13, 14, 18, 20, 21, 25, 27, 28 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 with festival seating), and July 22 and 29 at 2 p.m. (doors open at 1:30 ).
E.B. Foote, a working winery specializing in reds including varietals and Bordeaux-style blends, now has air conditioning.
The show includes tasting of E.B. Foote's award winning wines and hors d'oeurves, still for only $20. Tickets are available at the winery and at Corky Cellars, 22511 Marine View Drive, Des Moines 206-824-9462.
