Breeders Theater goes for the money in Capital

BURIEN -- How much greed is OK?  Breeders Theater's 10th production at E.B. Foote Winery examines the financial world in its new show, Capital.

"The people on the right say the market system is all good, and the people on the left say it's all bad," says playwright T.M. Sell, who is an economics columnist for the Seattle Times and has written about business for a variety of publications for 20 years.

"It seems unlikely that anything would be all or nothing, but people do make those assumptions when it comes to the economy," Sell says.
Capital's story involves events that have all happened in the real world of business -- a company, unhappy with how much money it's making, buys a business it knows nothing about and proceeds to turn two good businesses into one bad one.

"But the point is not that business is all bad," Sell says.  "It's just that when people get too greedy, they get carried away."

BT began its fifth season at the winery with a sold-out run of Rescues, Inc.  in January.  Breeders Theater is South King County's most successful professional theater company, specializing in original comedy in non-traditional venues.

The cast includes Terry Boyd, Eric Hartley, Jim Cooper, Kirsten Olds, Carlos Calvo, Melissa Grinley, Doug Knoop and Steven Scheide.  Scott Green directs, with choreography by Patricia M. Britton, musical arrangements by Nancy Warren, and costumes by Melissa Sell.

Show dates are July 14, 15, 19, 21, 22, 26, 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. July 16 and 30 at 2 p.m.

The show includes tasting of E.B. Foote's award winning wines and hors d'oeuvres, still for only $20.  Tickets are available at the winery, 127-B S.W. 153rd Street, Burien, 206-242-3852, and at Corky Cellars, 22511 Marine View Drive, Des Moines, 206-824-9462.
